ASHTANGA YOGA - EIGHT LIMBS YOGA

Ashtanga Yoga Means 8 Limbs Yoga

8 limbs are:

1. Yama [moral codes] The yamas comprise the "shall-not" in our dealings with the external world. There are 10 yamas. First one is Ahimsa: Nonviolence. Abstinence from injury, harmlessness, the not causing of pain to any living creature in thought, word, or deed at any time. This is the "main" yama. The other nine are there in support of its accomplishment.

2. Niyama [self-purification and study] Niyamas comprise the "shall-do" in our dealings with the inner world.

3. Asana [posture]

4. Pranayama [breath control]

5. Pratyahara [sense control]

6. Dharana [concentration]

7. Dhyana [meditation]

8. Samadhi [contemplation]

Hi all; best yoga styles are

Ashtanga Yoga:This focuses on the flow of postures in order to improve strength, stamina and flexibility of the body. During a Asthanga Yoga class, the participants jump from one posture to another. If you are interested in improving your strength, flexibility and stamina and you are fit enough to deal with an hour of jumping from one posture to another, Asthanga Yoga can suit you.

Power Yoga:This is an American development of the Asthanga Yoga that also adopted several elements from other types of yoga styles. You can find Power Yoga classes mainly in fitness and health clubs. Power Yoga focuses on strengthening the body by performing Hatha Yoga postures for a longer time to improve both physical flexibility and mental focus. Power Yoga can be a good exercise for athletes, people who practice types of fitness activities and people who want to tone their body.

Bikram Yoga:A Bikram Yoga class features a series of 26 Hatha Yoga postures practiced in a heated room. It is also known as Hot Yoga. The purpose of the heat is to allow the participants to get into each of the yoga poses in a deeper and safer manner. The heat also helps clean the body from toxins promoting sweating. Bikram Yoga focuses more on the workout of the entire body, including the internal organs and less on flexibility. Bikram Yoga is not recommended to pregnant women and people who suffer from high blood pressure and heart conditions, but it can improve the physical fitness of people who recover from injuries.Iyengar Yoga:This focuses on the physical alignment of the body and the accurate performance of each posture. Some of the

Iyengar Yoga postures are practiced with the assistance of props such as blocks and belts that are designed to help the participants achieve the most accurate posture and to protect their bodies from injuries. Since the flows between postures are not practiced, Iyengar Yoga classes are less intense and therefore more suitable for people who are less fit. Iyengar Yoga improves body strength and flexibility and can fit people of any age and every physical condition.

Ashtanga Yoga – Easy, Most Effective and Fast
Namaste :) First of all, I would like to share that liberation and limitless happiness are the major benefits of Ashtanga Yoga. There are other wonderful physical, emotional, mental and intellectual benefits of Ashtanga Yoga waiting to be experienced by everyone. All one has to do is to practice. That is it.
Ashtanga benefits are physical, emotional, mental and intellectual. The physical benefit is freedom of disease; Ashtanga makes the body light and strong. Body absorbs and retains prana, which extends the life span. Emotional benefit is to be able to remain the witness, be able to not to identify oneself with any situation or condition; nothing. As emotions are not real, they are past; whenever we are feeling, we are in the present. Ashtanga removes old conditioning; makes us feel intensely. On the other hand; mind analyses sensory data and projects past onto the future. As long as one is in the sway of the mind, one is not living. Intellect is something that grows and evolves as opposed to consciousness which exists in an eternal state of perfection. The intellect, which is purified through practice, visualization, meditation and samadhi is capable of seeing the world as it really is. This is nirvana; the ultimate and continuous happiness.
How is ashtanga yoga practiced? Ashtanga yoga is dynamic and breath is its fundamental. Fluctuating, pulsating or oscillating of breath happens simultaneously with the movements of the mind. The practice of pranayama therefore is the study and exercise of one's breath to a point where it is calmed and does not agitate the mind.
Various postures are used to become aware of all areas of the body. Where awareness goes there goes life force (breath). Chronic diseases are believed to develop where awareness is permanently lacking. Practisioner learns to breathe into all parts of the body, an act that is equivalent to evenly spreading the breath throughout the body.
Ashtanga uses actively both the abdomen and the thorax to breathe (thoraco-diaphragmatic breathing). Air is literally pumped out of the lungs. The aim is to breathe more deeply so as to increase vitality. The way to achieve this is not by inhaling as much as possible but by first exhaling completely in order to create space for the new inhalation.
By increasing the inhalation, the amount of oxygen supplied is increased. By increasing our exhalation toxins are exhaled; including mental, emotional, physical toxins, and environmental toxins. These toxins are held and stored in the body in unpalatable areas where there is only a small amount of oxygen, often around the joints or in adipose tissue. The build-up of these toxins- energetic dying of certain body areas- eventually leads to chronic disease. By breathing deeply, exhaling accumulated toxins and inhaling oxygen, the ashtanga practioner attempts to return the body to its original state of health.
I deeply, genuinely hope that this article helps you in every way you wish. I hope you have a fantastic, wonderful, beautiful, healthy and long life full of joy and happiness :)
