ASHTANGA YOGA - EIGHT LIMBS YOGA

Ashtanga Yoga Means 8 Limbs Yoga

8 limbs are:

1. Yama [moral codes] The yamas comprise the "shall-not" in our dealings with the external world. There are 10 yamas. First one is Ahimsa: Nonviolence. Abstinence from injury, harmlessness, the not causing of pain to any living creature in thought, word, or deed at any time. This is the "main" yama. The other nine are there in support of its accomplishment.

2. Niyama [self-purification and study] Niyamas comprise the "shall-do" in our dealings with the inner world.

3. Asana [posture]

4. Pranayama [breath control]

5. Pratyahara [sense control]

6. Dharana [concentration]

7. Dhyana [meditation]

8. Samadhi [contemplation]

Cheers :)
